At the beginning of the first millennium, Ephesus was one of the largest and certainly one of the most important ports in the Mediterranean. Since then the silting up of the basin has resulted in Ephesus now being several kilometers from the sea. Ephesus is the largest and most intact of the ancient cities in Turkey. The main stone paved street through the center, with its rows of shops each side, makes it easy to imagine the days when Anthony and Cleopatra walked on the same stones. Close by, high on a hilltop overlooking the City of Ephesus, is the House of the Virgin Mary. Acknowledged as the place where the holy mother lived until the end of her life. |

The Seven Churches referred to in the Book of Revelation in the Old Testament of the Bible are located right here in the Aegean Region of Western Turkey. These places provided a relatively safe haven for the early Christians who worshipped the coming of Christ some 300 years BC. While reference is always made to Seven Churches, the actual churches referred to are places of worship rather than actual buildings, though of course there are many religious and historical buildings to be seen at each of the sites. All seven churches can be visited easily during a one week tour. Our aim with all our tour arrangements is to put together an itinerary that best suits the requirements of our clients. While we can arrange private excursions with driver and official guides at each location where necessary, by far the easiest option is to rent a self drive car. We can arrange a rental car (also with driver if required), official guides at historical sites where required and hotels at key locations. |
Izmir is the largest city in the region, and provides a perfect, culturally rich base from which to start the tour. The Seven Churches are located such that all or some of the churches can be visited taking a circular tour of the region. Hotels are available at the following locations on the

Over the centuries Istanbul has been host to many civilizations. It has always been a port of significant and strategic importance, located as it is at the junction between East and West. It is not surprising therefore to find in Istanbul, many historic buildings representing the faiths of the various peoples that have populated the City as well as places of worship built for the many travelers passing through. Tours of religious buildings and monuments depend largely upon individual requirements. We just need a rough outline of preferred places and the number of persons and we can put together a suitable tour. |
