Traces of Rhodes rich history are scattered across the island, though most are in the main town of Rhodes itself. Modern Rhodes is a city of contrasts, from the old castle which dominates the city to the many new hotels, bars and restaurants that cater for tourists from all over the world. During the summer season the port of Rhodes is host to many cruise ships that tour the Aegean Sea. The old town of Rhodes still thrives within the walls of the castle with a myriad of small stone built shops, cobbled street cafes and small restaurants.
