CAPPADOCIA 38.50N 35.00E. KOS (Greece) 36.90N 27.40E. Kos, the island that gave to humanity Hippocrates, the father of medicine. It is the third largest island in the Dodecanese chain. The city of Kos, located on the north east side of the island has many historic buildings and archaeological sites scattered throughout the city. It is a lively, modern city with distinct traces of its glorious, yet often painful history. The plane tree of Hippocrates still stands, under which tradition says, the great doctor of the antiquity used to teach. |
